Military and Security Forces – keeping it safe under pressure
Prevention of Sexual violence in military and security organizationss
As a veteran Sargent-Commander at the artillery forces of the IDF, I am very much familiar with the kind of mentality one needs to develop in a system as such.
In order to be aligned with the giving everything you've got including your life in a second and not hesitating, one goes under a strong mental and physical preparation. This kind of mindset sometimes might have a side effect of hyper virile and desensitized manner when in civil, social and private situations.
My 3 years of military service were unbelievably different than any other situation in my life, and I'm not speaking on nothing extreme in terms of war and trauma. I address the basic macho, tough, militant environment of men, that women are almost always a minority in. I'm speaking about thinking in procedures, orders and hierarchy as a good soldier, and then coming back to more fluid way of discourse in the romantic-erotic scene. Sometimes, I recall, it felt like an emotional jet-leg, Putting aside the language, way of action and certainty that became my nature in the combat unit, and going back to being, thinking and acting in a system that is almost the contrary – romantic intimacy.
Prevention of Sexual violence in military and security organizations is a proactive work on developing high levels of awareness and consciousness.
